and also, what wheel size will it take? I'm thinking 15"'s but maybe 17"'s?
I've got something special in mind for when I get my cube soon!

Hi,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I've done some Googling, and now understand what '175 - 60R15' means.
But I can't find all the details on what '15 x 5.5JJ' means. I'm guessing 15 is the wheel diameter, but what does 5.5 and JJ mean? What does it tell you that '175 - 60R15' doesn't?
Thanks!
15 in diameter 5.5 inch width of wheel (hence tyre) think JJ is a unit they use for inches!
Thanks. Why does is it say 5.5 inches wide (which is about 140mm) in one measurement, but 175mm in the other?
the other measurement is probably refering to tyre width you can put slightly wider tyres on rims that they were designed for - but obviously there are limits and your tyres end up looking like doughnuts!
for example on my Beetle 5.5j x 15 would be normal fit (a tyre of 155 size) but you can go to 175 or even 185 in some cases!! Mad but people have so I would assume a tyre width on that rim size of 175 mm will not fit well under your arches or foul the suspension etc?
And on the other side of the coin you've got tyre stretching where people fit 175 or sometimes less on 7J wheels to squeeze wider wheels on without the tyre sticking out of the arches.
And quite a nice Jap related link to tie in to that...

Just thought id mention that the bloke in the tyre place said that the rozzers were cracking down on stretched tyres as they are a tiny bit dangerous as the side wall is not designed to run like that and is prone to "blow orf!" hurtling you into the nearest tree AKA T rex/Marc Bolan styley!
I don't want stretched tyres on mine, but I could sit there happily popping 'em onto the rims using that method for hours.
