Hello people!
(18 posts) (8 voices)-
hi everyone!
I have recently been looking at these nissan cubes and i think that they are ace!
But i have been wondering what they are like in a normal days commute?
such as, is the auto gearbox any good for starting and stopping in queues and what not.
And another thing that has been on my mind before i seriously thought about buying one is that, have any of you Cube owners had any unwanted attention you have had towards them?
any replies would be apperitiated!Posted 4 years ago # -
Hi Jonboy,
As far as a I am aware, the Cubes - Cubics seems to be pretty solid all round.
They were originaly designed as a City Car and built to take as many short, hard, stop-and-start journeys that anyone could throw at them.
Any time I want help or information, I goe to these people - http://www.cube-cubic.co.uk/index.html - They seem extremely helpfull and full of knowleadge...
Hope this helps....

Hi Jonboy,
It's just fine for sitting in traffic-no different to any other automatic !! It has an overdrive switch on the gear lever and I've found if I switch the overdrive off that it accelerates and reaches a motorway cruising speed a lot faster, then I switch it back on-a bit like a 5th gear is how I use it. The car gets a lot of attention but it's not been vandalised or anything if that's what you're meaning.

Jonboy12,
Check out this site..... http://www.cube-cubic.co.uk ........
If you go to the home page, you will find a link taking you directly to the most recommended insurance companies or just copy this --- http://www.cube-cubic.co.uk/insurance.html ---
Tett Hamilton says you need to be 23 but if you get stuck, give the guys a ring at cube-cubic.co.uk and they'll sort you out..... They are a nice bunch and totally honest.... If they can't help, I don't think anyone can.
Let me know how you get on,

Thanks for the help so far people!
but one thing that i am wondering at the moment is how it performs on motorways?
If anyone could help, i would appericiate it.Posted 4 years ago # -
hope i don't get shot for this....but they don't really perform on the motorway.
Its such a brick shape with a small engine, I find I keep having to put my foot down and get it to change up to maintain speed....unless you get sucked along by a lorry
the fuel needle starts going down before your very eyes....mind you i do have a lead right foot!....around town its much better.Posted 4 years ago # -
Thanks for the reply!
But unless there is something really bad, i think that i am still going to get a Cube!

I actually think it's fine! But I am used to driving Smarts!
Mine managed to bomb past most things with 4 adults in from here to the NEC for a trade show the other week
Try http://www.msminsurance.co.uk/ for insurance, they are good for Smarts and kit cars, will ask next time I talk to them about imports but pretty sure they could help!

don't get me wrong I love it
and it seems to handle better now its lowered.Posted 4 years ago # -
My trip to work is about 90% motorway and i think it pulls ok at between 80 and 90 never had a problem but the straight through exhaust makes it a bit noisey

So for motorway driving do any of you think that and exhaust system or better suspension would help with its ride?
becuase when once i have finished college i am probebly be doing quite a few motorway miles, so improving its ride would be helpful.Posted 3 years ago # -
A free'er flowing exhaust might give more omph (technical term there!) but it handles pretty well on 16" rims!

I spent a few weeks commuting to work in mine (70 mile round trip combining country roads, dual carriageways and stop-start town sections) and it was just fine. Quite relaxing actually compared to the Audi TT I had previously.
I used Adrian Flux to insure mine. They quoted me about £280 but I do less than 7k miles per year in it and I'm just the right side of 40, so I expect you wouldn't get such a favourable rate.
There are some benefits to getting old (but not many)
Good Luck

I find mine zippy around town but as Pinstriper said it's not as good on the motorway. That could be my fault....it gets quite noisy so I ease off but I probably don't need to as the revs only get to 4000 tops so I'm not thrashing it-it just sounds like I am !!
