Hey all,

I thought it was about time I posted some pics of my Cube.

So far, I have installed a Clarion DVD player, an amp and some speakers.
As we speak, I am getting the dash pieces sprayed Black with the same paint code as the car. Once that is done, I will post some pics of it.

I am also ordering a water gauge and Voltage gauge to put in that space under the head unit. Again, more pics will come as it gets done.

As for maintenance, I got the front discs machined because they were fairly warped.

Heres some pics of it. Apologies for the car being dirty

Future plans:
I am hoping that I can find some factory alloys for it, as I don't think anything else looks that good on it.
I may also lower it, but I haven't decided to go with coilovers or just springs. Im also not sure if I can deal with the extra stiff suspension.
I am also going to keep an eye out for some chassis bracing.

Things to fix:
I have a small oil leak coming from the rear engine seal. Its between the gear box and engine. You have to remove the gear box to fix it, so its no small job.
I am going to see if this is covered under warranty. If its not, then I wont bother fixing it. Its small enough not to worry about it.

I have to fix the air intake aswell. Its the same problem we all have. I am trying to find some clamps and ducting that will hold it.

Another thing. The drivers side rear door doesn't lock everytime, and when it doesn lock, it sometimes doesnt unlock. I have heard that this is a common fault. I might try to source a locking solenoid and see if that helps.

Nice..Black is best aye Cubic!!!

May I ask, do you have the digital climate Control or Analogue?

Also have a look to see if the solders on the circuit boards of the door switches have good solder points and no corosion
I was able to fix my drivers circuitboard that operated the rear passenger power window due to a bad solder

Don't forget to get the Greddy Informeter Touch, when your budget can afford it!!

Ill have a look at the joins, but I doubt thats the problem. I have a feeling its a dodgy relay or something, as its a common fault.

I have the digital climate control. Why do you ask?

I love the keyless ebtry into this thing aswell. Oh, and the keyless start. Its great! All I have to do is keep the key in my pocket.

Im not sure if I will bother with the ECU reader, unless I get an engine light coming on.

Have you used your Greddy yet? If you have, can you tell me what the intake temps are like?
In my mazda, the intake temps were always between 2-6 degrees above ambient.
Would be interested in knowing what this cars are like.........

Ambient intake Temp was around 35 degrees to 42 degrees if I remember rightly
I really love my Informeter!!
I have the digital climate control as well. I love it I have not seen too many cubescubics here in New Zealand with the digital versionas it was an extra option
Keyless entry is awesome..... if you press the unlock key on the remote and walk away or out of range or wait a wee while , the cube will lock it's self automatically!

Look at my other post about getting the LED's for the interior, My middle and boot light will be Blue and my map lights in the front will be white...maybe blue later on...just need to confirm these little bayonet types will work

I forgot to add.

I am also wanting to get the two front windows tinted the same as the rest of the car.
I wonder why Japs dont tint the front drivers and passenger windows?

I think legalities may come into it somewhere, both here and in Japan.
Best you check in your area before spending the dollars.
These things attract attention now, as they are, giving the police a reason to have a second look may not be a good idea.
That said, i do agree they would look better with windows all the same shade.

I dont mean the windsscreen. You cant legally tint that anywhere I dont think.

Im just talking about the side windows. You can definitely tint those. 35% is the darkest legal here.

Looking good, are they wheel trims? I like those.

As for tinting the front side windows there is a legal requirement to let 35% light in but you'll find that the windows are tinted very slightly at the factory - open them slightly and you'll see the difference compared to the open part and through the glass.

Add the lightest tint you can buy to that and it will take it over the 35% limit. In the UK some traffic police have light-readers which can detect if it's over the limit or not but the worst you get is a fine and they'll force you to remove the tint film.

It's a case of risk between whether you'll get caught or not and the cost implications but it's definitely not something they could do from factory.

I have the same locking problem, on mine though, only the passenger front and boot are still working hehe. I should have my new solenoids soon so will post a write up.

I think the wheel trims are off the current shape cube.

I still want the alloys though. I just cant find any here in Aus.

Hey people,

I will have pics of my dash up soon........after I install the gauges.

Unfortunately my car suffered some hail damage yesterday from the golf ball size hail stones that we got in that massive storm yesterday.

If you do a search you will see how big the hail stones are. In the second vid you can see the trees getting shredded up from the hail.

Love the black! Is it an aftermarket extra or did you have it smoothed and sprayed? As to the gauges, i was thinking of doing similar, was it hard to wire up? Is that a throttle controller i see in you net bag????

Its an IPOD in the net bag.

The gauges are fairly easy to do, especially the voltage gauge. I have them running off the ciggy lighter circuit.

I had the dash sprayed with the same paint code as the car. It makes the interior feel much more 'grown up'.

Is it just my car, or do these cubes not come with a dash light dimmer switch?

Gauges took about a day to install.

I made the fascia that they sit on out of perspex and sprayed it black. That only took about half a day.

Hey all,

After I washed the car today, I thought I would share some more pics.
I got the wheels fitted a few weeks ago, but unfortunately the springs haven't arrived yet so the car still looks like a monster truck.

And this last pic is of my boot.

Fairly irrelevant if you haven't seen it before.
The car was a seven seater. I have removed the rear seat and replaced it with a boot floor that sits level with the middle row of seats when they are folded down.

I never carried any passengers in the rear, so I didn't see any point to it. Also, this car wouldn't make it up any sort of gradient with more than 5 people in it
The rear seat weighed over 30kg, so I have also shed a bit of weight. It has made a tiny difference in the way the car handles and picks up speed.

I cant wait for the springs!

Hey people,
I am currently making up a heat shield for the intake. Because our intake sits above the exhaust manifold, it gets pretty hot and I have noticed that you loose a little power. Especially in traffic jams where it can soak it in.
I will install it this weekend after I do my major service. Pics will come.

Hey all,

I Finished off the heat shield and changed the spark plugs, along with the oil and filter.
The car revs cleaner now and doesn't vibrate as much. It doesn't sounds as asthmatic as it used to and I am more comfortable with revving it higher.

The heat shield has made a fairly big difference. My intake pipe doesn't get hot anymore because it is shielded from the exhaust manifold. The shield I have made gets pretty hot, sometimes too hot to touch, whereas now the intake pipe stays cool to touch.
It doesn't get bogged down in traffic anymore like it used to.

Who needs CAI???

I also got the camber issue solved today, so the car doesnt pull left anymore.

Now all I need is my springs........

But saying that,i live in the UK where we never really get hot weather like yourself.

Its just an aluminium sheet I got from a hardware store. I cut it into shape and painted it black with heat proof paint.

I only have pics of it on the car. I should have taken pics of the install process.........doh!

It keeps the entire upper section of the enigine bay much cooler. I rememebr when I used to open my bonnet, you could feel a rush of hot air escaping. Now I dont get that anymore.
