update on my cube - a USDM cube in AUS
afternoon guys - thought i would update you on the progress of my cube
grabbed a few photos:
this is when the springs went in:
here are some pics:
first a before picture:
and wheel gap
rears were easy - fronts were annoying as the plastic cover had to come off to get to the last bolt
ride is much better, less body roll than stock. In terms of comfort, i can feel that it is a touch harder *that's what she said* but it's still fine for a daily.
in terms of low - well if you want proper low then get coilovers and dont get springs... but for a nice reduction in gap then these will do fine.. i'm quite happy with them
I'm alot more confident around corners now but still you wouldnt want to scream around any corners in a cube
after alot of umming and ahhing i decided to polish a set of billets i bought and put them on to see what they would look like
key to polishing... fit the drill bit polishing pad to an angle grinder = powah!
my original idea was to go for a usdm/cali look which i reckon the wheels work with
most recent pics from a cube meet:
looks great especially set in that lovely aussie weather...shame you are so far away..cos i would buy your old wheels from you. cheers mike
wow that looks ace mate - thanks for the photos - now where did you get the alloys ? I like both sets actually. Love the blinged up grill
Looking good. 8)
Those alloys are too nice! Almost slot mags, mmmmmmmmmmmm Very nice rider too!
hi guys thanks for the comments
the billets actually came from Japan - worked out heaps cheaper buying American rims from Japan... go figure
the original alloys are the stock autech rider rims - they are just kicking around in my garge now.. if only you guys were closer
i'm starting to look into airbags or coilovers. I'd rather bags right now as the wife sometimes drives the car and i dont like the idea of her driving it mega low
have a chat to cubed on here, hes the bag man!!!!
i'll be honest with you guys/girls... i purely bought them on impulse
still need to buy everything else (i mean everything) but i dont think i can even do that until they arrive which wont be for a while so yeah... i got a mate at work who's bagged a couple utes so we'll be working on this together and hopefully with some help from you guys as well i can get this up and running
Hi, I've uploaded the photos I mentioned in my PM to this post...
Hopefully it will help with location for your rear bags.
Just to bear in mind that mine is a custom kit rather than designed for a cube.
thanks CUBED cant wait to see them
Sorry I've just realised that the attachments were blocked due to size, I'll shrink and retry...
been a while without an update! i'm changing the direction of this cube and going to go for a more street/time attack look...
but first abit of rice
found a mini chandelier which changes through 9 colours (i dont know why but i think it's awesome!)
next i grabbed an OEM cube boot mat
and most recently a Cusco strut brace... this sucker is massive lol
i've just ordered a set of cusco coilovers which should land in about 3 - 4 weeks so i cannot wait!
after that i'm looking for a nice set of 15's and slam this cube!
Excuse the silly question, but aside from looking cool, does that strut brace make any difference on a car with a little engine like the Cube? And where would one buy such a brace? And the carpet? I've looked on eBay to no avail.
Liking the strut brace and boot mat.
i can confirm that it does help with handling (a bunch of us did a touge run last weekend lol) the front end feels much more responsive on turn in... quite astounding actually.
you wont find anything on ebay for z11 cubes - you need to hit up yahoo japan
Looks awsome man. LOVE them wheels!
alrighty so as i mentioned i'm moving towards a more JDM theme for the cube... so i picked up a set of watanabe's in 16x7 +35 for the fronts and +25 for the rear
they got pretty mean fitment but i've already had my guards rolled so hopefully when the coilovers go in it'll be right
Nice wheels. Everyone knows all the really cool kids rock Watanabes.
Liking the strut brace, gives me a good idea on bracket shape now as well! 8)
